A very popular type of exterior business sign was recently chosen by another Premier Signs client, ASE, of Odessa, Florida. It is an aluminum channel letter sign, and it makes a bold statement. They like many businesses that needed a bigger, bolder sign approach, these beautiful blue channel letters and signature arrow are direct mounted on the large expanse above their entrance. They are an individual building, not part of a mall or office center, so they needed to be seen from a greater distance. ASE also chose to LED backlight their sign to ensure this, no matter the weather or evening skies. Aluminum face-lit channel letters are durable for outdoors and come in a wide choice of sizes. This made it the perfect sign for them.
Many other Tampa area businesses use channel letters for these reasons, as well as the vast array of standard colors and finishes and the many typestyles offered. Channel letters can be made of aluminum or formed plastic, laser-cut acrylic, and even stainless steel. Finishes range from the standard pigmented colors of the plastic and acrylic letters to brushed, polished or patina finishes for the metal letters. Each material option is sturdy enough for the weather conditions of outdoors but are beautiful enough to be placed indoors as well. There is a price range to fit every business.

Amerilife’s 36inch letters, that are large simple text, to Jersey Mike’s, who uses a trademark script in red or white, serve as great examples. Many channel letters, like the Jersey Mike’s pictured here, are installed on a raceway that is attached to the building’s exterior wall. The raceway is usually painted to match the exterior surface so that it gives the letters dimension but “disappears’ behind the letters. Larger individual letters are most often attached directly to the walls.
