Trinity School in Tampa once again enlisted the experts at Premier Signs when they had a sign need. Previously they had Premier Signs fabricate and install signs ranging from silver channel letters up high on indoor walls, to plaques just outside entrance doors. This time the sign was more unique than its placement. The large indoor lobby surface needed a lightweight, but dimensional sign that included a custom acrylic tornado!

The designers created a sign made of an aluminum backer with a woodgrain vinyl applied to the front. Then, out of precision cut acrylic, the custom heart of the tornado was made and attached. The title and name of the award’s benefactor were also cut from this glossy black acrylic and placed beside the symbol. Several matching rectangles are also part of the lobby sign to display past and future winners of this heartfelt award. The finishing touch is a long plaque holding inspirational words that explain the criteria for the winner.

There are a lot of components to this sign, and yet it needed to be lightweight. The use of the aluminum helped keep it light while the woodgrain vinyl gave it the look of a much heavier sign. Acrylic is also another material that appears substantially heavier than it is, so even with multiple pieces, including a tornado, it remained light. The entire sign was installed on the wall with beautiful silver peg standoffs that add to its dimensional quality and beauty without having to use a heavy frame or brackets that would have distracted from this piece.
